FAQ - Monthly Burlesque Shows at Prohibition Cabaret Bar
(Vaudeville Vault & Burlesque Revue)

Q - How many tickets can I purchase? Only two per person, per email address. We aim to be as inclusive and fair as possible. Any duplicates will be cancelled & refunded. To ensure your whole party can come, ask them to purchase their own tickets - if this is a problem due to accessibility, please contact info@houseoftrixieblue.co.uk before the tickets go on sale (The Saturday after the 3rd Friday of each month from February at 10.30am)

Q- Where are my tickets for the show?
They feature in your sparkly Wegottickets confirmation email or you can access them on your Wegottickets account.

Q- Do we need to print out the tickets?
Let’s save the planet, no you don’t. Just say the name the ticket is booked under on the door or show your tickets on your phone and Bobs ya uncle.

Q- I can no longer attend, what should I do next?
Awwww It’s a shame that you can no longer attend but it would be super rad if you could do the either of the following:

Offer your ticket to a friend and get them to say the booked under name on the door or message Info@houseoftrixieblue.co.uk and we can offer it to the waiting list.

All sales are final - tickets are non refundable/transferable

Q- I/my friend can no longer attend the event but I/my friend is still coming and wants to take someone else, can they do this?
Yes sure, just say the name the tickets are booked under on the door.

Q- When do the tickets come off sale?
To ensure a smooth production, tickets come off sale by 8pm-ish the Thursday before Friday show day. This is subject to change for each show, so please keep an eye on the event for updated information (subject to change).

Q - Can I get a refund?
All sales are final - tickets are non refundable/transferable

Q - What happens if the tickets sell out?
To remain as accessible, inclusive and fair, we have enabled the waitlist feature on Wegottickets (huzzah for technology).  Once tickets are sold out, the ticket page will ask you if you want to be added to the waiting list.
Next, choose the option to be added to the waiting list (only for the show that's on sale, it doesn't waitlist you for the next months show). If a ticket becomes available, you will be notified automatically via email and it is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED to claim your ticket.
We strongly advise all members of your party are added to the waiting list as you can only be in line to claim TWO tickets through the Wegottickets waiting list.
The waiting list will run up to the day of the show by approx 3pm.
If tickets become available after then, we will announce their availability in the Facebook event and how to claim.

Q- How long is the waiting list?
Size doesn't matter when it comes to our waiting list, it's that “how long is a piece of string” scenario for our waiting list I’m afraid folks. It is due to various factors (people before you might not take their space etc) we don’t advise when a space might be available . We do, however, automatically notify you via email as soon as a space becomes available so you can book it via the Wegottickets system. Fingers and toes crossed my fellow burlesque babes.
If it is close to the event, the process may change a little but will be fully addressed in the Facebook Event for the show.  Please make sure to pop along to House of Trixie Blue, like our page, head to the events tab and click 'Interested' on the event to receive event notifications. Thanks.

Q - What happens if you have tickets available on the night and I/we wanna come and have some fun?
If we have tickets available, we will make it known in the Facebook event ASAP. It might be close to showtime but we will do our very best to manage it. Thanks for your understanding.

Information from Prohibition Cabaret Bar

As you know, Prohibition works with the fabulous, award winning House of Trixie Blue to bring our monthly Burlesque shows to our stage. As you will also know, these shows get booked up extremely quickly. This month's (June) 'sold out' in 11 minutes. (I know!) While this is great news for the event, not being able to get tickets is also a problem.

Now then, Trixie and I have both had various comments, recommendations, requests, complaints, suggestions and so on, for several months, and we realised we needed to look at ways of making this fairer.

In order for Trixie to keep our shows fresh, consistent, professional, polished and above all - fair, Trixie and I have put our heads together for a good natter (and a nice cup of tea and a biscuit) and we went through the most frequently asked/suggested comments and wanted to share our findings with you, to help address the issues publicly. There's a lot more to our decisions than meets the eye so I'll try and explain a bit for you, this may ho on a bit! Stay with me... :

Q: If Burlesque is the most popular event every month why don't you do more shows a month?
A: Burlesque is classed as 'Adult Entertainment' and Prohibition, as a venue, does not have an Adult Entertainment licence. Our premises licence permits only 11 'adult' performances per year, that's one a month, (we always miss out January). There are many stipulations that adjoin these permissions too, such as having the curtains closed, etc. In response to this I'm often asked:

Q: Why don't you get an Adult Entertainment licence then, Mitch?
A: Prohibition houses much more than burlesque and whether we agree that burlesque is adult entertainment or not, having a licence that recategorises the entire business for our one 'adult' show a month, putting all our other jazz, blues, comedy, cabaret and magic shows aside, would without a doubt, damage the overall business model. The weekend tea parlour would suffer, I wouldn't be able to allow children on the premises, etc. In addition, applying for this licence would be costly and most likely opposed and refused by neighbouring businesses and residents. Additionally, I am more than happy with my current licence and we are both happy with our one show per month.

Q: You have loads of room in here, how come you only do a limited number for the burlesque shows? You could fit loads more people in. Think of the money, Mitch!
A: My premises, Prohibition, just like any commercial or public premises, has a legal capacity. That is it has a legal amount of people allowed in each part of the building. Capacities are given to buildings to ensure, should there be an incident such as a fire, everyone on the premises can leave safely and in a calm and timely fashion. I will never allow over my capacity or endanger your lives while you're on my premises, no matter how much you ask. Adding to this that I can lose my licence, your lives and safety are genuinely worth far more to me than a few more pounds in my till.

Q: But Mitch, isn't there a bigger venue upstairs? Can't you use that to fit more in?
A: Yep, the venue upstairs is 56 capacity, so a little bigger than the ground floor premises, however, with no accessible access we were unable to offer the burlesque to everyone, which didn't sit well with either of us. The decision was made before we even moved from Gateshead over to Newcastle that all our burlesque shows will remain accessible for all and set out in our intimate setting.

Q: It keeps selling out before I get a chance to book tickets! Can't I reserve a table or tickets instead?
A: In the interests of fairness we cannot take bookings or reservations without a ticket.

Q: I keep missing out on tickets - when and where are they released?
A: Trixie releases the link to the next event the morning after the current month. To clarify - Trixie will release the ticket link via the House of Trixie Blue page at 10.30am on the third Saturday morning of each month.

We look forward to seeing you all very soon and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your continued love and support!

Online Zoom FAQ by Tech Support Ruby L'amour

Can I have the chat open and see the video at the same time?

Yes! When you select the chat option, it will open in a separate window or on the side of the screen. This may differ if on a mobile phone/tablet due to the size of the screen, so you may need to minimise when watching the show.

How can I mute/unmute myself?

At the bottom of your screen (computer or phone/tablet), you will see a microphone icon – click that to mute yourself. The host will mute you during the show so we can all enjoy the fun of the performers but you’ll get your chance to cheer!

How can I turn my video on/off?

At the bottom of your screen (computer or phone/tablet), you will see a camera icon – click that to turn your camera on/off.

I can’t hear the host/acts

This will be due to the settings on your device – make sure you haven’t got zoom muted and your volume is turned up.

My video keeps freezing

This may be due to your internet speed unfortunately! Make sure you haven’t got loads of things running in the background that need the internet and may make the video stop freezing.

How can I see other people in the meeting room?

In the top right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see 4 squares/grid view – this will allow you to see everyone in the room! If you’re on a mobile phone/tablet, this might be different – you might be able to see the change view option or may need to swipe left/right (not like tinder!) to see everyone.

How can I message just one person at the show?

When you’re on the chat, you’ll see an option of who to send you message to. There’ll be a drop down of everyone present so you can send a private message or choose ‘everyone’ to send a message to all of the audience.

Trixie isn’t responding to my message and I want to ask about something to do with the show

She’s a busy bunny producing the show at the moment and supporting our performers, I can answer some queries, so message me directly. Alternatively, if you don’t need an answer right now, pop Ms Blue an email/message on Facebook and she’ll get back to you when she can.

How can I connect Zoom to my telly?

It depends on your device, you’re best checking with my bestie, Google!
